The Los Gatos Research (LGR) Liquid Water Isotope Analyzer provides measurements of δ18O, δ17O and δ2H of water in liquid (including wines) and discrete vapor samples with unsurpassed performance. Measurements may be reported at the unmatched speed of (at least) 800 injections per day. The LWIA is ideal for a wide variety of hydrological, analytical, and biological applications that involve measurements of fresh water, seawater, and other liquids. The Analyzer’s ease-of-use, field durability, and high throughput make it the industry standard analyzer for these types of measurements. LGR’s patented technology, a fourth-generation cavity enhanced absorption technique, has many advantages (simpler, easier to build, rugged) over older, conventional cavity ringdown spectroscopy (CRDS) techniques. As a result, LGR Analyzers provide higher performance at lower cost.
All LGR analyzers have an internal computer (Linux OS) that can store data practically indefinitely on an internal hard disk drive and send real time data to a data logger via the digital (RS232) or Ethernet outputs. In addition, the Analyzer includes LGR’s acclaimed Post Analysis Software which automatically performs many analysis procedures on liquid measurements that were previously done by researchers after the data was collected. Among the capabilities of LGR’s software are to automatically apply calibration standard measurements made during the sample run, to graphically display all results, and to diagnose instrument operation. Moreover, the Post Analysis Software includes (at no extra cost) LGR’s proprietary Spectral Contamination Identifier (SCI) technology, the only software proven to accurately quantify and correct for the presence of organic contaminants in water samples. Finally, LGR's isotopic water analyzers (including models reporting δ17O) are fully compatible with LIMS for Lasers (http://isotopes.usgs.gov/research/topics/lims.html).
As with all LGR analyzers, the LWIA may be fully controlled remotely via the Internet. This capability allows the user to operate the analyzer using a web browser practically anywhere Internet access is available. Furthermore, remote access allows full control of the instrument and the opportunity to obtain and share data and diagnose the instrument operation without being on site.
